How To Defeat Zalmarath The Colossus In Path Of Exile 2?
In Act 2 of Path of Exile 2, players have to travel to three different areas of Vastiri to reassemble Horn of the Vastiri. This is divided into three different quests.
One of the quests, A Crown of Stone, will lead players to Valley of the Titans and Titan Grotto. Zalmarath the Colossus is waiting at the end of the player’s journey. After you finish the quest, you can get Uncut Support Gems from an NPC. However, it is a very powerful boss, and if you want to defeat it, you need to master some tips.
Location Of Zalmarath The Colossus
Zalmarath the Colossus is the final boss of A Crown of Stone. Players need to travel through Valley of the Titans and fight this gigantic stone statue at the end of Titan Grotto.
But before you can go to Titan Grotto, you need to find three seals in Valley of the Titans and activate them. This will unlock the way to Titan Grotto. Unfortunately, Valley of the Titans is a fairly large area. So don’t be impatient. Players can upgrade your level first here. Maybe you can find some POE 2 Currency in this area to improve your weapons before setting off and make good use of Checkpoints and Waypoints in this area.
When you reach the end of Titan Grotto, Zalmarath will stand behind Dais of Reckoning and fight you.
Attention
Compared to the huge body of Zalmarath the Colossus, Dais of Reckoning where players fight is quite small. This means that Zalmarath’s attacks will not allow players to stand still and output.
What’s worse is that as the battle gets longer, Dais of Reckoning will gradually collapse, and there will be less and less area for players to move, so this battle is very challenging for players to adjust their positions. In addition, don’t fight a protracted battle with Zalmarath, and deal with it as quickly as possible.
Zalmarath mainly causes physical damage to players, but it also has attacks with lightning and fire. Players can equip equipment with high armor values to resist its attacks, which will increase the tolerance rate of this battle. Zalmarath’s weakness is Cold, and players can use POE 2 Chaos Orb to adjust your skill gems and equipments according to its weakness.
Dodge Zalmarath The Colossus’s Attacks
The fight with Zalmarath is a bit difficult, because many of its attacks have a very large range. But the good news is that Zalmarath can be avoided, and it is not quite difficult to defeat it as long as you can grasp the timing of hiding correctly.
Below are each of Zalmarath’s attacks and how to deal with them.
Sword Stab
Attack: Zalmarath will thrust its gigantic sword into the center of Dais of Reckoning, and then pull the sword back in front of him. It pierces the ground quickly, but it is not fast to pull his sword back.
Dodge: The player can roll towards the colossus or away from Zalmarath to avoid its first attack. Then roll to the side to avoid the second attack.
Sword Slash
Attack: Zalmarath stabs the sword into the area in front of it, and then pushes the sword forward.
Dodge: Its first attack is not such easy to dodge, but you can dodge to the side as it pushes its sword forward.
Sword Upheaval
Attack: Zalmarath holds its sword with both hands and slashes to the side.
Dodge: This attack only happens if you are close to it and to its right side. So dodge to the left to avoid it.
Upheaval
Attack: Zalmarath raises its arm and hammers the ground, creating a wave across the field.
Dodge: When you see Zalmarath raise its arm in front of its face, quickly move towards its right arm.
Forehand Swipe
Attack: Zalmarath’s left hand sweeps from left to right, then uses its right sword to swing across the field.
Dodge: Dodge backwards as fast as you can, being careful not to get stabbed by its sword.
Backhand Swipe
Attack: Zalmarath’s left hand sweeps from right to left, then uses its sword to swipe across the field.
Dodge: Dodge backwards, then wait to avoid being hit by its sword.
Giga Laser
Attack: Zalmarath sticks its sword in the center of stage and fires a beam across the field.
Dodge: Get behind Zalmarath’s sword.
Summon Drones
Attack: When Zalmarath has about 1/3 of its health left, he summons drones. They explode on impact.
Dodge: You can blow them up by attacking them, or get close to them to make them explode. Be careful not to be hurt by the explosion.
Falling Stalactites
Attack: Zalmarath shoots lasers at the ceiling, causing stalactites to fall.
Dodge: There will be dust vortices where the falling rocks fall, so avoid these areas in advance to avoid being hurt.
Switch Sides
Attack: Zalmarath will fire many Lightning projectiles while moving.
Dodge: Dodge backwards, as far away as possible to avoid Lightning projectiles.
Spiral Laser
Attack: Zalmarath fires a large laser forward from close to his body, with many smaller lasers swirling around it. Sometimes this laser will stay in the center of the field.
Dodge: The laser is not very fast, you can dodge it to the side.
Magma Fissure
Attack: Zalmarath summons two streams of lava and they will randomly cross the field.
Dodge: They leave tracks on the ground, be careful not to step into them.
Triple Stab
Attack: Zalmarath stabs the field three times with his sword.
Dodge: Stay away from Zalmarath and always be aware of its attacks. Don’t be careless before it stabs for the third time.
Hammer Fist
Attack: When you are close to Zalmarath, it will clench his fist and punch the area in front of it.
Dodge: Be careful, this hit can cause lots of damage. But you can dodge toward Zalmarath’s unmoving arm.
These are basically all the attacks that Zalmarath can have. In fact, if you stick close to Zalmarath, you’ll find that its attacks are easier to dodge. All of Zalmarath’s moves can be dodge able, so as long as you observe patiently and boldly predict its attacks, you can continue to have high output.
After you defeat Zalmarath, you will get The Flame Ruby with other loot and continue your A Crown of Stone. If you don’t need them, you can trade with other plays to get some POE 2 Currency. At that step, you have finished a part of Ancient Vows quest. Anyway, hope this article can help you defeat Zalmarath and let you have fun in Path of Exile 2.
