Stop Getting Melted: The Essential Guide to Hunting Fireflies and Comets in ARC Raiders Shrouded Sky

Following ARC Raiders Shrouded Sky update, two new enemy types have been added: Firefly and Comet. These new enemies add new challenges for players exploring Topside.

Like other ARC enemies, Firefly and Comet patrol open areas and will attack Raiders immediately upon spotting them.

While they are considered regular or small ARC enemies, they deal significantly more damage than regular enemies. Firefly breathes fire at its target, rapidly melting shields and inflicting fire damage on Raiders, making it even more ferocious than Hornet. Comet explodes upon approaching its target, triggering a massive earthquake explosion that causes widespread blast damage.

If you’re still struggling to find or defeat Firefly and Comet, this guide will help.Stop Getting Melted: The Essential Guide to Hunting Fireflies and Comets in ARC Raiders Shrouded Sky

How to Find and Defeat Firefly?

Fireflies do not have a fixed spawn point. It spawns randomly on almost every map, is a powerful solo attacker, and sometimes patrols alongside Wasps and Hornets, providing sustained frontline fire support. Firefly has the highest spawn rate in Hurricane map. However, due to the low visibility on this map, Firefly is the most difficult to deal with. Players looking for a challenge can choose this map.

Firefly is an Armored ARC Drone designed for close-quarters combat. It uses a gimbal-mounted flamethrower to scorch any Raiders that get too close. Therefore, engaging it in open areas is ineffective; maps with many buildings to utilize are recommended.

Buried City is probably your best choice. On this map, you’ll find many buildings near the outdoors that you can use. Even if Firefly spots you, you can hide inside a building and shoot it down.

To defeat Firefly, you must use Heavy Ammo weapons, such as Anvil or Ferro. These two ARC Raider Items have high ARC armor penetration, easily penetrating Firefly’s armor and attacking its weak points.

Flamethrower fuel tank is its weak point; you need to aim for Firefly’s weak point to make it lose balance and fall. Shooting down any two of its tanks will cause Firefly ARC to crash and be destroyed.

Some Raiders will intentionally ignite other ARC machines near them, but this requires precise timing and is entirely a gamble. After the explosion, remember to wait for the flames to extinguish before picking up items inside ARC.

Alternatively, you can use Grenades to defeat Firefly, use a Showstopper to make it crash to the ground, and then shoot to destroy it. There’s also a better method, but it’s too costly and not recommended: using a Wolfpack to instantly destroy Firefly.

Possible Loot from Firefly ARC

Below are all the items you can pick up from Firefly in ARC Raiders.

  • Firefly Burner
  • ARC Powercell
  • Chemicals
  • ARC Alloy
  • Simple Gun Parts
  • Synthesized Fuel
  • ARC Synthetic Resin

How to Find and Defeat  Comet?

Similar to Firefly ARC, Comets don’t have fixed spawn points; they spawn randomly and patrol the ground. However, unlike Firefly, Comets patrol alone.

Comets are large, rounded, and very easy to spot. They can be found in almost every map’s outdoor areas. Marano Park area on Buried City and Control Tower area on Dam Battlegrounds are particularly recommended. Additionally, Comet spawn rate is high in Hurricane map, making them easier to find.

To defeat a Comet, you’ll need to use an Anvil or IL Toro Shotgun. Once a Comet spots Raiders, it will roll towards them at high speed. Its core will rapidly charge and then explode.

As Comet begins charging, it will eventually expand its Armor Shell, exposing its internal structure and weak points. Shooting the center point before Comet explodes will destroy it. Generally, it may take one or two bullets to destroy it.

Remember, if you shoot the core to detonate Comet, you will not take any damage. However, if Comet is not destroyed before it explodes, it will trigger a shockwave explosion, causing considerable damage.

If you have a light shield equipped and both your shield value and energy are full, Shockwave will reduce your shield energy to about a quarter and your health to a similar level. Comet only has one chance to deal damage, so it will reposition itself before self-destructing to maximize damage to a group of Raiders.

After destroying Comet, you will see two lootable pieces, one of which is a core piece containing Igniter. However, if Comet explodes on its own, only one lootable piece will drop. Currently, it seems that Igniter will always drop if Comet is destroyed correctly.

Possible Loot from Comet ARC

Below are all the items you can obtain from Comet in ARC Raiders.

  • ARC Alloy
  • Crude Explosives
  • Advanced ARC Powercell
  • ARC Coolant
  • ARC Thermo Lining
  • Comet Igniter (only when you destroy Comet before exploding)
  • Explosive Compound (only when you destroy Comet before exploding)

This concludes the guide. We hope it helps you better complete trials in ARC Raiders Shrouded Sky and obtain the items you desire.
