How Does Spirit Works In Path Of Exile 2?
As we all know, POE 2 Early Access has finally arrived, and although the content is limited, we can also see what changes and adjustments this new sequel has made compared to the original version. Among them, the most noteworthy is the operation and changes of the auras, trigger gems, and minions mechanisms in Path of Exile 2, because they will directly affect our character construction and end-game gaming experience.
The core change of PoE 2 to these mechanisms is that they will revolve around a new resource called Spirit. Whether you want to summon an army of skeletons or use different auras and skill gems to enhance your characters, Spirit is essential.
With this reason in mind, you can know that Spirit is an extremely important resource in POE 2, but so far, many players have not been able to expand it. Therefore, here we will explore how this Spirit resource works and how you can better collect it at different levels, whether it is through applying items, defeating enemies, or using your Ascendancies. Without further ado, let’s take a look!
Spirit Mechanics Explained
As we said before, Spirit is a new resource in Path of Exile 2 that can be used to apply auras, skill gems, and summon minions. Unlike POE 1, reserving auras no longer requires mana.
However, please note that you will not get Spirit immediately when you start the game. You need to obtain this resource by defeating bosses and equipping or consuming some special POE 2 items during the battle.
Once the meta gems and auras in your skill bar are activated, your character’s Spirit will be automatically reserved, but if you do not have enough Spirit, your gems and auras will not be able to remain activated. It is worth noting that the skill gems and auras that each character can equip are actually unlimited, as long as you have enough Spirit. Therefore, in the process of developing the character, collecting Spirit resources has become the primary goal of most players.
In addition to gems and auras, Spirit can also be used to summon minions. However, compared with the first two, the application of minions may be different. To summon minions, you need to open the skill tab and assign Spirit to your skill gems. When you open the skill page, you can see the number of minions that can be applied next to the skill gem level. You can consume Spirit and summon more minions by clicking the plus sign.
Please note that the amount of Spirit resources consumed each time you summon minions is inversely proportional to the level of your skill gems. The higher the level of your minion gems, the less resources you consume to summon minions. So, don’t be stingy with your POE2 Currency and upgrade your gems as soon as possible to reserve precious Spirit resources.
Different Ways To Get Spirit
Normally, you won’t get any Spirit at the beginning of the game. Of course, as one of the core attributes of PoE 2, we will have various ways to get Spirit during the game. However, how can players get Spirit in the early stage?
1. Equipment And Affixes
In POE 2, equipment is still the core of players’ class construction. You can get Spirit directly from equipment. At the beginning of the game, the easiest way is to equip a staff in the off-hand, which can give us “+100 Spirit”.
Much equipment in the game can provide us with Spirit. Don’t ignore them.
The affixes on the equipment are another way to directly obtain Spirit. In POE 2, we can use various means to add or transform affixes to equipment, which makes it easier for my class to take shape as soon as possible. Of course, this also means that we have to consume a lot of POE2 Currency. The good news is that in POE 2, various gems will not be so rare.
2. Use Boss Drops
In POE 2 campaign, some consumables in the boss drops will increase your Spirit slightly, but permanently. Although not all bosses will drop, it is still worth it for us to sweep them all.
3. Infernalist
Spirit is a mechanism created by the producer to solve the problem of insufficient mana in the first generation, and the summoner is undoubtedly the biggest beneficiary of this mechanism. One of the first Ascendancy nodes of Witch’s Infernalist Ascendancy, Beidat’s Will. It allows the summoner to increase one maximum Spirit for every 25 maximum health points.
With the help of Spirit mechanism, Witch of POE 2 will have more permanent followers and create a real skeleton army. If you want to be a powerful summoner, don’t ignore Spirit.
In PoE, we have to use a lot of mana on auras, and in POE 2, Spirit will save us from this embarrassing situation. And it has become one of the most important mechanisms that determine our pioneering experience. POE 2 has a certain difficulty, so we might as well focus our early goals on increasing Spirit, which will give us a better gaming experience.
