Massive Updates in Diablo 4 3.1.0 PTR | Big Changes in Mythic Unique, Endgame & Class
Following the release of Diablo 4 3.1.0 PTR, there has been a lot of discussion about the upcoming Season 14. Today, we'll summarize the new content that everyone is most eagerly anticipating.
Mythic Unique
First and foremost is the Mythic Unique, which, since its introduction, will bring one of the biggest changes to the item system in Season 14. Previously, it was extremely rare, obtainable only by defeating Tormented Bosses or enemies above level 55, and with only a low drop rate.

With the release of the 3.1.0 PTR, players are experiencing a completely redesigned Mythic Unique system, which fundamentally changes how these ultimate items work. Mythic no longer refers to an item's rarity, but rather a quality that applies to any Unique Item.
In the new season, any Unique Item has a chance to drop as its Mythic version, granting enhanced abilities and a capped affix effect. Each Unique Item becoming Mythic increases its abilities by 30%.
For example, a Unique Item that originally provided a 50% damage bonus will provide a 65% bonus after becoming a Mythic Unique.
Generally, the item type remains unchanged during the upgrade process, with one exception - an Amulet may become a Ring after upgrading.
Furthermore, players can use Horadric Cubes to forge Mythic Uniques - placing an Ancestral Unique and Pandemonium Fragments (the new seasonal currency) will randomly generate a Mythic Unique. However, the generated Unique is randomly dropped from the item pool, making it very difficult to obtain a specific Mythic Unique. However, for crafted Mythic Uniques, there is a restriction—players can only equip one at a time. However, there are no restrictions on dropped Mythic items.
All Mythic Uniques in the game will be reworked. The main difference is that instead of multiple fixed stats, only one affix is guaranteed, while the rest will be randomly generated. During the reforging process, affixes cannot be locked, preventing players from targeting specific attributes as in previous seasons.
Furthermore, not all Unique Items will provide the same benefits after upgrading to a Mythic Unique. Some items will not increase damage after upgrading, but instead transfer the bonus to extended duration.
Pandemonium Ruptures
A new event called Pandemonium Ruptures appears in version 3.1.0. There are three forms, all spawning enemies and Ruptures. You need to defeat them and close the rift, but the difficulty varies.
The first type, Normal Ruptures, can be encountered anywhere and is very easy. The second type, Surging Ruptures, appears in active helltide areas. The third type, Colossal Ruptures, only appears in the world boss arena next to Zarbinzet. These Ruptures have a chance to spawn Realmwalkers: Normal Ruptures will not spawn Realmwalkers; Surging Ruptures may spawn them; and Colossal Ruptures will always spawn them.
There's also a minor change regarding Realmwalkers. Simply put, in previous seasons, players needed to follow the Realmwalker and defeat its minions, then defeat the Realmwalker itself, which would spawn a portal leading to a small dungeon and earn Diablo 4 gold. However, this portal has now been replaced by the Deathtoll Chamber entrance. The Deathtoll Chamber is said to be a new dungeon with mini-bosses to challenge for rewards, including Lair Boss Keys, which is related to the new season's Lair Boss.
Corrupted Reaper
The new season's Lair Boss is called Corrupted Reaper and appears in Zarbinzet in the Hawezar region. This is a classic monster that appeared in Diablo 2, but this season it's the primary source of Pandemonium Fragments and offers the highest Mythic Unique drop rate.
The studio has given the Corrupted Reaper extremely high mobility this season, so do not expect to defeat it by simply standing still. You'll also need to carry Betrayer's Husks to open the chest after defeating it. It's speculated that it might become a permanent boss, like Butcher in previous seasons.
Class & Skill Trees Balance
The strongest builds in each class have been significantly nerfed, while the mid-tier builds have remained largely unchanged, with only a few poorly performing builds receiving buffs. Clearly, the studio is limiting the strength of top-tier builds, but such adjustments may be somewhat pointless.
Because they haven't addressed the real problem plaguing players: they haven't adjusted the classes themselves to help players have a more comfortable gaming experience. Instead, they've nerfed builds that, to some extent, ensure a good player experience at high torment levels, which has caused dissatisfaction among some players.
In addition, the studio has reworked the Skill Trees for all classes, but most changes are merely numerical modifications, except for unique and legendary effects. However, aside from enhancements to specific builds, the classes as a whole remain largely unchanged.
That concludes some of the content from this 3.1.0 PTR. Let's look forward to Season 14, where everyone will have a crafted Mythic Unique and the returning Corrupted Reaper.
