Why Is The New Essentials Pack Launched In Diablo 4 Season 9 Not As Popular As Before?

Essentials Pack Suffered A Waterloo

Diablo 4 Season 9 recently launched new cosmetic bundles, which are very cost-effective compared to other similar games under its company, but surprisingly, players are not interested in them.

In Diablo 4 Season 9, each class is equipped with a new Essentials Pack. For only $5, you can get cosmetic bundles containing six skins of the class. This is the most cost-effective microtransaction activity launched by Diablo 4 so far.

Normally, if you want to get bundles containing cosmetics (such as limited-time Berserk cosmetics), you need to spend $25 or more. In comparison, this activity is a big discount.

But surprisingly, players on Reddit platform do not agree with this pricing decision, which has caused a large-scale discussion among players.

Why Is The New Essentials Pack Launched In Diablo 4 Season 9 Not As Popular As Before?

Diablo 4 subreddit pointed out that the reason is that the suits in these Essentials Packs are like modified or re-skinned versions of the free armor in the game, and only some of them have unique helmets or are slightly modified from the original ones.

Imagine, would you pay for mediocre designs? This perfunctory presentation did not arouse players’ shopping desire, not only did it receive mediocre response, but also led to a lot of negative feedback.

Some players pointed out that they never paid for the exterior bundles, but obtained some items in Essentials Pack by completing tasks and receiving rewards. Therefore, in order to compensate those players who spent real money to get the bundles, the developers slightly lowered their prices.

However, these insignificant changes still make many players dissatisfied. Why can you unlock these cosmetics by completing tasks, exchanging Diablo 4 gold, and unlocking them through battle passes in previous seasons, but now you need to pay real money to get them? This is really ridiculous!

But at the same time, another part of the voice supports that $5 is a reasonable price, which has greatly caused conflicts among players.

Reliquary System Triggers Player Trust Crisis

The last time players questioned Diablo 4’s microtransaction system was when it came to the remastered Reliquary Battle Pass system. The system offers fewer rewards and premium currency than before.

Since its first use in Season 8, Reliquary has provided a poor user experience for players. Not only is the entire system worse than expected, but the expensive gift packages and confusing wording launched by the official have exacerbated the conflict between the official and the players.

The official said that it has learned from the shortcomings of the previous season and has been seeking improvements, but it has not been reflected in Diablo 4 Season 9.

The developer said earlier this year that Reliquary system aims to treat all players equally (not just those who pay), add rich appearance props to them, and pay more attention to the design of appearance props in subsequent joint activities, so that players feel that they are worth the money and pay for it.

Although the developer has stated that it will learn from the lessons, the public opinion storm caused by players in these two seasons is an indisputable fact. If Diablo 4 continues to make money as usual next season, will you still pay for it?
